Contractor prequalification is a requirement for businesses intending to bid or receive invitation-to-bid (ITB) documents from many construction companies. Once you become prequalified with a construction company, you will be put on their bid lists. This means you will get email invites to bid on all new projects directly from the companies.
These prequal applications are not easy to acquire, and often take repeated email requests from the companies to get. You will start receiving email announcements for all new projects as soon as your applications are processed.
Use the Master Pre qualification key to fill in all applications. Have all your company qualify information on 1 page. For most companies you can use this pre qualification key as your company 1 pager to submit to all companies without even filling in applications, since it contains all the questions their pre qualification application will contain.
When Project Managers need work done, 1st they look to their pre-qualified vendor database in order to find a subcontractor. These databases are setup according to location and trade. It is much easier for a PM to look in his system for a qualified vendor then by searching on google or word of mouth. If a company is not on the pre-qual vendor list, they will not be able to bid or be awarded a contract.
